Saturday Part 2

Just had an upbeat email from Peg late Saturday afternoon. Things are pretty quiet on the weekend, but she did talk to one of the attending docs and also nurses. They say Larry is the talk of the town right now! Not sure that is what he had in mind, but we will all take it over the alternative. It is a very good thing!!

The doc understands that we are all anxious and would maybe like things to progress a little faster. He says they really need some time to digest all the tests and how he is doing and that Larry really needs time to rest and get stronger before they would do anything more. Sounds like he is very understanding and also very thorough and has encouraged any of us to call him any time. He says, "he went 4 years without needing anthing, give us 4 days to figure out what to do." Well, when you put it that way, yes, we can wait. It's just so hard not being there and thinking about them so much.

Peg also inquired about his need for oxygen and they reassured her that he is really doing over 90% on his own. He is only getting a small amount but they feel the optimum amount will help him heal better so why not? She also mentioned that Larry didn't seem as tired today and has watched more TV. Very encouraging!

We are back in Iowa and glad to hear that improvement continues!!!

Be careful when you watch TV. Don't spend all yout time on Fox News. Turn on CNN from time to time (when you need to take a nap).

  2. Larry and Peg,

Considering the part of the country you are in, saying too much about your "allergies" may adversely affect your recovery. Just a thought.

Glad to hear things are improving.

We are praying for you down here in AZ,

    Steve and Judy

I'm out of wine leftovers. Please come back to work soon. Thinking of you. Good son-in-laws are hard to find, too, hope you feel better soon.

  4. Peg and Larry -
We have Mom Mary here for F&O's pizza and wine. We just raised a glass to Larry and a speedy recovery. Curt says, the Caymus was wonderful. Just kidding, we will save that for your return.

We were talking about our favorite TV shows and Mom Mary said one of hers was Jeopardy. So, we started giving Nate and Jay Jeopardy-like questions. Everything from who is Grandpa Larry's Mom and Dad to what street do Grandpa Larry and Grandma Peg live on. They also knew the name of the place Mom Mary lives.

Soon Nate gave Jay one, what is 2 + 2? Jay yells 4! What is 5 + 5 ? Jay yells 10 and we are all amazed. Then Nate says 10 + 10 and Jay says 100 !! We giggle and say good try. Nate says, well, take away 80 and we all smile. Dad says, we expect good Math scores from both of you!!

We all miss you! Thought you would like a good grandkid story. Baseball was cancelled so you didn't miss anything. Stay strong!

    Larry and Peg,
If you wonder about not hearing from us, it is because I am so dense. I sent it to the Friday blogs. Anyway, let me give you a mantra to repeat to find inner peace and comfort: ObamaOsama, ObamaOsama, ObamaOsama, etc. Seriously, we, too, appreciate being in the loop; it is easy to see you have raised great kids and kids-in-law. Keep up the good progress.

  6. We missed you at gourmet last night, but you were definately part of the conversation! Our theme was New Zealand/Australia, so we enjoyed lots of lamb and kiwi. The "lamburgers" Jason made were outstanding--perhaps you could have a chat with the folks in the Mass General kitchens to see about getting them on the menu there. It was another great evening of good company and good food, and everyone wishes you guys well.

The kids are doing fine--busy with end of year activities, etc. The are constantly asking about you, and keeping very close tabs on your medical updates. Their friends are asking as well--Maddy, Amanda, Peter, etc. Peter is in Las Vegas now losing his money, but he and his dad went to Wolfgang Puck's for dinner. Phil said he was grateful Katie was teaching him to appreciate fine foods! (I guess we've all had our hands in that bit of her education!) The kids will be blogging soon--I think they are just unsure of what to say, but know they are thinking of both of you.

I emailed with Rudi Lea the other day--he sends best wishes to you, too.

As for all of you out there who are posting comments--it is so nice to hear from all of you and read your concerns and good wishes. Thank you so very much! And thanks to Curt and Nancy for making this all possible.

We appreciated receiving the information albeit not the type we wanted to hear. Great to hear you are improving and our prayer is that you will have a complete recovery and no repeats!

  9. Hi Larry & Peg,
Sounds like Larry's doing better - keep up the good work. Kind of a rainy weekend in Iowa - Ron's golf tourney for charity - was rained out yesterday, but Jake's baseball team managed to win 2 games in the rain. I couldn't get the Cardinal game yesterday on our cable, but after I saw the score was 10-1 in favor of the Rockies - was just as well I didn't watch it.

    Take care, Ron & Jeri

  10. Dear "Lazzrus" After all that we have been through together I can't believe a little thing like a small heart attack would slow you down. I remember times when Waldo was beating on both us at the Monday Production Meetings.

Remember when Jason turned over the Canoe, burnt your tennis shoe and lost the soap between the rocks... It truely was a great trip into the boundary waters.

Jane still talks about the good time she had taking pictures with Peg and I rember all the wonder breads that you made on Saturdays.

Once you get back on you feet it would be great if you and Peg could get to the Carolina's for a visit... We would really love to see Peg!

    Hang in there,
    Love,
    Jane and Dan Reilly
